E-MAINT

Why E-MAINT?

Operators of machinery face numerous challenges, necessitating the creation of new types of training programs.

  • Due to the automation of machinery and the complexity of systems, the modern tractor operator must be versatile: they are not just drivers but must also acquire knowledge in electronics, computing, and hydraulic systems.
  • Following the COVID crisis, more than 50% of young people in VINUM partner institutions did not return to their studies. It is essential to rebuild educational continuity through efficient digital services.
  • Equipment is expensive and can be dangerous to use. Digital and virtual tools allow the multiplication of engines and other costly equipment and enable safe practice before going into the field.

Project Steps

Five workshops with teachers and professionals helped identify the main educational objectives:

  • Ensure the safety of people and equipment through predictive maintenance and appropriate use
  • Master fault diagnosis and be effective in remote troubleshooting with a distant expert
  • Identify the components of the machine
  • Know how to use a “manufacturer’s” manual

In its first version, E-MAINT will train for the prevention of safety for people and equipment by simulating situations impossible to recreate in real conditions.

Proper handling of the equipment represents a 70% increase in safety. Checking the machine and all its safety elements is part of the essential professional practices to be acquired. E-MAINT will illustrate the consequences of situations that endanger people and equipment. Simulating extreme situations that are impossible to perform in reality will leave a lasting impression and prevent learners from repeating virtual mistakes in their professional practices.
